From June 18 to 23, 2025, we had the great honor of welcoming HG Mukunda Datta Prabhu, Head Pujari of the Krishna-Balaram Deities at ISKCON Vrindavan, to Simhachalam. For many of us, it was the first time meeting him in person – and for him, it was the first visit back to Simhachalam in 37 years.
Born in Switzerland but deeply rooted in Vrindavan, Mukunda Datta Prabhu has been serving the divine brothers Krishna and Balaram for over three decades at the famous Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, founded by Śrīla Prabhupāda himself in 1975. His life is steeped in devotion – and that was felt in every one of his classes.
Vrindavan Comes Alive
During his stay, Mukunda Datta Prabhu gave daily classes – in the mornings on the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and in the evenings on Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and other essential topics from the Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇava tradition.
Many devotees described his talks as “sweet” – deeply moving, heartfelt, yet rooted in scriptural truth. What made them so special were the many personal stories from Vrindavan: tales from the temple service, glimpses into his daily puja with Krishna-Balaram, small but meaningful moments from inside the altar room, or even the temple kitchen.
His words brought the Dham to life – not just as a concept, but as a living, breathing reality.

A Visit That Left a Mark
Mukunda Datta Prabhu’s visit touched the hearts of everyone present. His presence was gentle yet steady, filled with clarity, humility, and a quiet humor that revealed deep realization and love for the Lord.
The Gift of the Vaiṣṇava Community
When senior Vaiṣṇavas like Mukunda Datta Prabhu visit, we are reminded of the priceless gift we have in this spiritual family. Especially those who have served for decades – they connect us to our living tradition, to Vrindavan, and to Śrīla Prabhupāda himself. Their presence inspires and teaches us what is possible when bhakti is lived with love, steadiness, and humility.
We are deeply grateful that, after so many years, the circle has come full again – and we sincerely hope it won’t take another 37 years for his next visit.
